Progress Update, Week of February 7th, 2022

During the week of February 7 the Gowanus Remediation Team continued In-Situ Stabilization (ISS) north of the Carroll Street Bridge. Additional probing of the sediment was conducted in the vicinity to identify possible obstructions.

At Degraw Street the GRT mobilized equipment and continued preparing the site to install tiebacks. Sheet piles were cut to size and fitted with spacer plates and tieback guides. Please note, there will be a partial street closure in place on Degraw street between Bond Street and the Gowanus Canal while this work is ongoing.

At Turning Basin 1 (TB1) tieback installation continued. Drainage holes were cut in the temporary separation wall and tie rods were installed and tightened. Test pitting was conducted as part of the archeological monitoring program.
