Progress Update, Week of January 31st, 2022

During the week of January 31, the Gowanus Remediation Team continued In-Situ Stabilization (ISS) near the Bond Street Promenade and north of the Carroll Street Bridge. Next week an excavator barge will be utilized at the north side of the Carroll Street Bridge to conduct additional probing of the sediment.

Bulkhead installation equipment was demobilized from the Degraw Street work site. Sheet piles were cut to an appropriate height. The GRT continued preparing to install tiebacks for the new bulkhead. Please note, there will be a partial street closure in place on Degraw street between Bond Street and the Gowanus Canal while this work is ongoing.

At Turning Basin 1 (TB1) sheet piles, anchor plates, and tie rods were installed at the bulkheads to tieback the temporary pipe pile separation wall. Equipment was demobilized in preparation for test pitting next week.
