Progress Update, Week of January 3rd, 2022

During the week of January 3, the Gowanus Remediation Team continued In-Situ Stabilization (ISS) near the Bond Street Promenade.

Installation and cutting of sheet pile bulkheads at the headwall of the canal was completed. This week the GRT will continue installing sealant for the new bulkheads. Next week the barges will relocate south near Degraw Street to conduct sheet pile installation at that location.

Site clearing began at the former Turning Basin 1 (TB1). Crews removed vegetation, conducted additional site surveying, and staged materials. The filled-in turning basin will be excavated as a part of the cleanup.

This week crews began removing the sound curtain fence near Union Street.
