Progress Update, Week of July 18th, 2022

During the week of July 18, the Gowanus Remediation Team (GRT) continued In Situ Stabilization (ISS) south of the Union Street Bridge.

Support brackets and additional supports were installed for the permanent submarine cables at the Union Street Bridge.

Work began to remove sediment from the Union Street Bridge piers. A work platform was mobilized and a silt curtain with an absorbent boom was installed. Cap timber removal began. Sediment and debris were hand excavated with a water jet.

Dredging equipment started to be installed on a GRT excavator in preparation for upcoming Phase 3 dredging.
