Progress Update, Week of March 7th, 2022

During the week of March 7 the Gowanus Remediation Team (GRT) continued In-Situ Stabilization (ISS) near the Union Street Bridge.

This week remedial construction activities began at the Union Street Bridge. Mechanical restraints are being installed in preparation for additional upcoming work. The Union Street Bridge will be intermittently closed to all traffic during daytime hours, 9am – 2pm, for up to five days a week. For more information read the latest public notices on gowanussuperfund.com.

At Degraw Street the GRT continued tieback installation. Tieback anchors were locked off. Tieback rods were trimmed as needed and sealed. A partial street closure will remain in place on Degraw Street between Bond Street and the Gowanus Canal while this work is ongoing.

Additional probing was conducted near the Carroll Street Bridge.
