During the week of March 11, the Gowanus Remediation Team (GRT) continued the RTA 1 Capping Operation.
Concrete mattresses were delivered and placed along the bed of the canal to create an armor layer. Mattresses were placed between Union Street and Carroll Street.
Divers were utilized to assess underwater conditions.

During the week of March 18, the Gowanus Remediation Team (GRT) continued the RTA 1 Capping Operation.
Concrete mattress placement was completed!
The GRT will place stone above the armor layer to create a gravel layer. Stone placement began.
Controlled low-strength material (CLSM) and structural concrete were placed in the canal.
Grouting operations took place in the canal at 2nd Street and Carroll Street.
Divers were utilized to assess underwater conditions.

Stone placement continued. Stone was placed between 3rd Street and Carroll Street.

Stone placement continued. Stone was placed at Union Street. Additional stone was placed behind bulkhead walls.
Concrete was placed at the Union Street Bridge embankment slopes. Donut fenders were installed at the Union Street Bridge monopiles.
Monopiles were cut to an appropriate height at the Third Street Bridge.

Monopiles were cut to an appropriate height at the Carroll Street Bridge and at the Union Street Bridge. Monopiles were capped and fender installation began at the Third Street, Carroll Street, and Union Street Bridges.
Stone and concrete placement was completed.

Supplemental dredging near Douglass St began. Dive inspections were conducted. Sediment was removed and controlled low strength material (CLSM) and structural concrete were placed as part of the capping process.
