During the week of July 1, the Gowanus Remediation Team (GRT) continued the RTA 1 Capping Operation.
Supplemental dredging near Douglass Street continued. Sediment was removed.
Sunken barges were removed from the 6th Street Turning Basin (TB6) under archaeological supervision. More information about the barge removal is available on our Cultural Resources Page.
Probing activities were conducted near 6th Street and 9th Street.

During the week of July 8, the Gowanus Remediation Team (GRT) continued the RTA 1 Capping Operation.
Supplemental dredging near Douglass Street continued. Sediment was removed. Controlled low strength material (CLSM) and structural concrete were placed.
Access dredging was conducted within the 6th Street Turning Basin (TB6) and near 4th Street.
Probing activities were conducted near 6th Street.

During the week of July 22, the Gowanus Remediation Team (GRT) continued the RTA 1 Capping Operation.
Supplemental dredging near Douglass Street continued. Divers completed removing material from the Flushing Tunnel. The Flushing Tunnel was restarted for 24 hours to test conditions within the canal. Grout and concrete placement equipment was demobilized. Gravel placement on the bed of the canal began.
Tie bars were installed on the Union Street Bridge screens.
The RTA 2 Bulkhead Installation Operation continued. Bulkhead/Structure Monitoring Equipment was installed. Additional probing and access dredging was conducted within Turning Basins 6 and 7.
