Progress Update, Week of October 10th, 2022

During the week of October 10, the Gowanus Remediation Team (GRT) continued Phase 3 Dredging between Carroll Street and Union Street.

Power and control cable installation and testing continued at the Union Street Bridge. Steel grating platform installation continued.

Cap plate installation began at the Degraw Street bulkhead.

An anchor plate was installed at the 1st Street bulkhead.

Mobilization continued at the new GRT staging area.

Progress Update, Week of October 17th, 2022

During the week of October 17, the Gowanus Remediation Team (GRT) continued Phase 3 Dredging. Sediment was dredged between the Union Street Bridge abutments. A cleanup pass was conducted and dredging was completed between Carroll Street and Union Street.

Power and control cable installation and testing was completed at the Union Street Bridge. Steel grating platform installation continued.

Cap plate installation was completed at the Degraw Street bulkhead.

Mobilization continued at the new GRT staging area.

During the week of November 14, the Gowanus Remediation Team (GRT) continued Phase 3 Dredging north of Union Street.

Water storage tanks at the staging area were power washed.

Testing was completed for the new power and control cables at the Union Street Bridge. The work site was cleaned. Demobilization of the temporary cable system began.

Mobilization continued at the new GRT staging area. Demobilization continued at the current GRT staging area.

During the week of December 5, the Gowanus Remediation Team (GRT) continued Phase 3 Dredging north of Union Street. Surveying was conducted to review dredging results.

Demobilization of the temporary cable system was completed at the Union Street Bridge. Additional steel grating platforms placement began.

Mobilization continued at the new GRT staging area. Demobilization continued at the current GRT staging area.

Progress Update, Week of December 12th, 2022

During the week of December 12, the Gowanus Remediation Team (GRT) continued Phase 3 Dredging near the Union Street Bridge and the Carroll Street Bridge abutments. Dredging also took place north of Union Street near the Flushing Tunnel.

Sand was placed on the bed of the canal between the Union Street Bridge abutments. Final steel grating platforms were placed, and the worksite was fully cleaned. Sealant was placed at the newly installed power and control cable conduits.
